On Obama’s website he has addressed many problems we have energy-wise. He states that “there are a lot of families out there that can’t(afford to put $50 in their cars every week). People who have to drive to work long distances, people who don’t have the money to buy more fuel-efficient cars right now and they’ve seen their standard of living drop substantially as a consequence of higher gas prices.”

He wants to approach car companies and force them to increase the average mile per gallon on cars by 3 percent each year. That means that by 2020 a car would average 40 miles to the gallon, which is a small  but welcomed increase and easily do-able with today’s technology. He states that the republicans and the democrats both have not approached car companies like this in over 17 years, and that it’s time for a change.

He also wants to switch the whole country to E85 which is 85% ethanol and 15% gasoline, because of the amount of cars being made with flexible fuel tanks. He wants automakers to install flex fuel tanks in every car and possibly make the government cover the $100 per car expense to switch.

His plan sounds great, but whether or not it’s really high on his agenda is a different thing.Either way He’s making big promises, let’s hope he’ll keep them if he makes it in.
